On November 4, 2025, the Zhongnong·Super Plant Factory, developed by a research team from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, entered its first peak fruiting period in Wenjiang District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It has been continuously producing large quantities of strawberries, which are being sold through cooperative channels. As the largest large-scale vertical strawberry cultivation smart factory in Southwest China to date, it achieves efficient production through cutting-edge planting technologies.

The factory adopts a multi-layer vertical planting model, combined with precise environmental control, modular design, and an artificial intelligence management system to create an optimal growing environment for strawberries. Covering a total area of approximately 1,000 square meters across 5 cultivation workshops, the vertical planting design significantly improves space utilization, with a planting efficiency equivalent to 10,000 square meters (15 mu) of traditional open-field cultivation. Workers carry out maintenance operations using vertical elevators, realizing scientific and intelligent management throughout the entire process.

The factory launched trial production in June 2025 and has now achieved stable production capacity. Based on the current output level, the 5 workshops are expected to produce a total of 73 tons of strawberries annually, with an average daily yield of 200kg (400 jin). Freshly picked strawberries are sent to cooperative channels immediately, providing the market with high-quality fresh fruits available year-round.
